The HP Envy 4520 Combo Printer is Compact And Affordable To Buy
The HP Envy 4520 Combo Printer is part of the manufacturer’s design series. Optical characteristic: the relatively flat housing. The design makes the ink multifunction device not only chic, but it can also find a place in cramped locations such as on the shelf. At the same time, however, it is at the expense of the paper supply. So the supply holds just 100 sheets. With 25 sheets, the paper tray turns out to be really lean. At the front of the device, the manufacturer has attached a touch display. It takes over the operation without a PC and brings along a good reaction to the finger pressure. However, it only displays icons and font in grayscale. This is no longer fun anymore. All the better, we find that the HP Envy 4520, despite its compact dimensions, comes with a duplex unit that can automatically print and copy on both sides.
TEST CONCLUSION: HP Envy 4520
|TEST RESULT (NOTES)||HP Envy 4520|
|revaluation||-0.20 (HP ePrint, Apple AirPrint, Wifi Direct, App)|
|test score||satisfactory (3,11)|
|Price rating||very cheap|
The HP model is an in-home ink combi printer. And only if you print and copy a little. Even for medium output volumes, the page prices are too high. Even if you can reduce it with the “HP Instant Ink” ink supply program, it will be annoying to change the cartridges. The reason: Thanks to the flat design, only a minimum of space is provided for it.
Installation – By CD or Online
The ports on the HP Envy 4520 include USB as a local connection and Wi-Fi including Wi-Fi Direct as a wireless interface. If you do not want to install the multifunction device on a CD, enter 123.hp.com/envy4520 in the browser, load drivers and software onto the computer and start the routine. At the end, the manufacturer is now asking relatively exactly how the HP Envy 4520 is being used. For example, under Home, we must distinguish between Home and Home Office. Printing and scanning can be done through the HP ePrint app. In addition, the combination device with the standards Apple Airprint and Google Cloudprint. If we are registered with the HP service “HP Connected”, we can also scan to an e-mail address.
The printhead is integrated into the combo cartridges of the HP Envy 4520. Even in the high-range XL versions, we come to 6.3 cents for the black-and-white and 9.1 cents for the colored sheet. In both cases, these are high page prices. They can only be lowered by participating in the “HP Instant Ink” ink program. Here, however, you need to know what your throughput is. The program starts with a monthly rate of 2.99 euros at 50 printed pages. After all, the combination printer is frugal in power consumption. In sleep mode, it switches to 1.0 watts. After pressing the power switch, the multifunction device goes to 0.0 watts – a clean separation from the power supply.
Quality in Printing, Scanning And Copying
The HP Envy 4520 multifunction device uses pigmented black ink. That benefits the typeface. The letters usually remain legible. However, part of the device exaggerates with the cover. This is at the expense of the sharpness and the details in grayscale graphics. Just colored documents with writing, graphics and images produces the multifunction device in a beautiful quality. Also, our test photos are not much to complain about. The colors are bright and rich in detail. Again, the ink job is full. The scans are appeased based on their sharpness, which goes down to the deep – that’s not self-evident. The HP Envy 4520 retires only for slightly strong reds and blues. Our test copies have a somewhat strong order for grayscale, but in the case of colored copies, they can be replaced quickly. So details can be lost.
Speed - Scan Unit
Hurry is a stranger to the HP Envy 4520 multifunction device. In pure text printing, it reaches a reasonable time with 58 seconds for ten pages. However, it drops significantly when color comes into play, such as showing 4:33 minutes for ten colored pages from Acrobat . The scanner or the scan software works really slowly – a well-known phenomenon in HP combi printers. The preview takes almost as long as a full color scan.
