Samsung Series 3 Chromebook
Samsung is bringing its 11.6-inch Chromebook. The device equipped with Chrome OS as a second device, so you can also work productively mobile. One wants to consciously address an internet-affine and tendentially young audience here. Let’s take a look at the specifications to get a sense of how productive working could be on the go:
Samsung is using its own processor, the Exynos 5250, with a dual-core clocked at up to 1.7 GHz. There are 2 GB of RAM available. The 11.6-inch display is pleasingly matte and dissolves with 1366 x 768 pixels, in addition, it is pleasantly bright with a brightness of 200 nit.
The 2-cell Li-Polymer battery will last for seven hours, which is quite neat and further, the device has stereo speakers, each 1 x USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, a 3-in-1 card reader, an HDMI port and a VGA cam on the front page. The dimensions of the Chromebook are 289.6 x 208.5 x 16.8 – 17.5 mm and it weighs 1.1 kg. It has a chiclet keyboard and a fairly large touchpad.
As you may have noticed, I left the internal memory out the front – 16 GB is not worth mentioning. With the Chromebooks, however, that has a lot of trouble – after all, you want to work with the planer online in the cloud. If you sign up for Google, you’ll have only 5 GB available, but anyone who buys such a Chromebook will get a whopping 100 GB for two more years from Google. If you chose this cloud package for Google Drive for yourself, you would have to put some money on the table every month. So you can say that you get about some amount of cloud storage to the Chromebook.
The extremely slim operating system means that you get the box powered up in just 10 seconds, waking up from sleep mode takes only 2 seconds. Since the test device has just arrived here and I have never had such a thing in the house before, I can not tell you yet, how it goes here with the productive work. But considering the specs with the Samsung Chromebook, we can not tear down such trees, as with a much more powerful notebook, is obvious.
But as I said, Samsung wants to establish this new device category as a second device and as such, I’ll take it in the coming days, even under the microscope. If you have ideas and suggestions on what to test on the Samsung Chromebook, let me know in the Comments. If you’re interested in such a Chromebook.
